Hey, I’m Phoebe

I hold a degree in Fine Art (Painting) from Central Saint Martins and have spent seven years working in various roles within art galleries, including curation, public programming, and creative direction. From here I became an independent Communications consultant and coach before taking up the role of Creative Communications Lead at SHiFT UK (October 2023), an organisation focused on disrupting the cycle of youth involvement in or vulnerability to crime with a strong emphasis on anti-racism.

This career move is not as dramatic as it may seem! My upbringing in a family that included a barrister-turned-criminologist, coupled with a deep-rooted interest in social and criminal justice issues, laid the foundation for this career move. My exposure to arts-based projects in the social justice realm and my ongoing personal research interest in art therapy provision for young people fueled my excitement for bringing my passions together in this role.

My core beliefs revolve around the transformative power of art, emphasizing its ability to transcend boundaries, heal, inspire, and promote accessibility and diversity in creative expressions. I'm a strong advocate for nurturing individual creativity as essential for personal growth and community well-being. I actively seek to increase understanding and engagement with the arts and support emerging artists in building sustainable careers. I have experience in delivering curatorial talks and tours in diverse settings and in hosting and guesting on podcasts and radio programs, known for my clarity, enthusiasm, and curiosity.

As a writer, my portfolio spans contributions across multiple platforms, including regular features in lifestyle magazines where I offer insights into the art world and creativity more holistically. I love connecting with people online, and have a lovely engaged Instagram, TikTok, and newsletter subscriber base!

As an artist and collector, my creative practice confronts the undervaluation of art and artists through satire, drawing inspiration from contemporary politics and social injustices, particularly those affecting women.
