I spent five years studying Fine Art at Central Saint Martins and whilst there was so much I learnt… there was also so so much I didn’t. So much I had to figure out for myself, so much to learn from others, and so much I’m still figuring out.

I started working in art galleries before I’d even left school, kept at it through uni, and eventually found myself managing one in Soho. I came to know ‘art’ from all sides: the artist and the dealer, the gallerist, the writer, the creative hobbyist, and the one absolutely convinced that creativity is a fundamental human need, something essential to everyone’s everyday.

So back in 2023, freelance and spending a lot of time with my Creative Coaching clients, I put together a kind of scrappy, heartfelt 31-day challenge. Nothing fancy, just short (almossttt daily!) videos on Instagram. I ran it again last year, and honestly? It’s still the thing that sparks the most conversations. The thing people remember. The thing people message me about months later, saying, “You’re doing the August Challenge again this year, right?”

So yes. With vim and vigour: she’s back, babyy!! And this time, I hope she’s better and bigger than ever.

Creative practice isn’t static. It moves. It shifts. It changes as we do. But most of us don’t get the space, or the permission, to check in with ourselves as creative beings. We plod along, push it to the side, wait for inspiration. We promise ourselves we’ll carve out time later. Familiar?

That’s why I built this challenge. To create one month a year where we intentionally invest in our creativity. Where we get to pause, reconnect, and experiment, with curiosity, not pressure.

I lurvvvv the The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. I host a book club for it three times a year, and we do the full 12-week journey together [I should be on commission for real]. This challenge is kinda a condensed version, but my version. 31 days instead of 12 weeks. Minimum of 10 minutes a day. But the same spirit: self-trust, creative recovery, and gentle accountability.

You know how some people do a 30-day gym challenge, or a no-spend month, or a mental reset? This is that, but for your creative self, and your creative health.

It’s for anyone, literally anyyonneee: artists, writers, creative business owners, or people who just want to feel more connected to their imagination again.

This is the third year I’m running it. I keep coming back because I love it. And because I really believe in what it offers.

So, that’s the why. That’s the story.
And I’d love you to join us!

here’s the back story real quick.

PAUSE.
